While not entirely scientific but here is a guy that demonstrates his results with his headliner install. Your mileage may vary. I had a good experience with my DEI Boom Mats.

I have the aftermarket one on my JK, and they definitely work....they insulate heat from radiating on your head, they also make the stereo sound better, and finish off the interior, however, the aftermarket solution costs half of the mopar one, so take my opinion with that grain of salt.
What brand do you have?

On my TJ, 20 years ago, I had some sort of carpet-style headliners made for it and the difference was night and day concerning the noise. A bit better for heat but effect was limited to the materials used.

Another thing noticeable is that in very cold days before having the headliners made, the inside of the hardtop would create quite a bit of condensation which completely disappeared with the headliner.

On the Hot Head brand you can install additional sound deadening strips before installing the headliner pieces I believe I'll be installing the Hot Head system in my JLU

Thanks! This makes it harder to decide on a hardtop lol.
Coming out of a hard top I wasn't really on the fence. It's 10 degrees in Maryland today, no soft top would be pleasant! ...... And after I saw how much lighter the panels are and no more 200 turn screws to remove them! it is a no brainer. You can always add the soft top later or dual top now and have the best of both worlds.

just priced the Hot Heads model for a 2 door ( this was for a JK, not the new JL)
hotheads price was only a few dollars less than the MOPAR one when compared to the dealer price we have been offered

From memory and the research I did a while back the Hot Heads were thought to be better than Mopar. Now maybe Mopar has made them better. I will be getting those this time around but just felt they were priced too high when ordering.

Any word on when headliners will be available for the JLU?

Which is available for purchase? I picked up my JLU a few days ago, did not add the liners and now wish I had. I can't find the OEM for purchase.

Call your dealer parts department and see if they can order one.

I made my own for my JKU when I had the hard top. About $40-$50 and a few hours and worked like a charm.

1/2" ISO board from Home Depot, headliner material from Jo Ann Fabrics, and some headliner adhesive spray from I can't remember, as well as hi temp double stick tape I bought on Amazon.

I made templates with cardboard and then cut ISO board. Then applied fabric and finally installed.

One of gripes about hard top in Florida was heat. I routinely arrived at my nearby destination before the Jeep got cool. This was a cheap and effective solution and saved me a ton.

I sold them with the hard top as I went to a premium (sailcloth) top and am beyond loving it. In fact, getting ready to order JLU once Ocean Blue opens and will have premium soft top only.

Gotta have it!

Anyone have this on a JK? I didn't order it with my JL, but a friend has highly suggested it. I'm more concerned about cutting down on noise that heat loss, etc. I've found the Mopar one online for almost half what they wanted to add it for when ordering. Just curious if it actually makes a noticeable difference. Any aftermarket ones that are better?

I have it, its effective, worth the money no idea, for me just having it there at pickup is worth it but a week before my factory order came in I tried a Sahara that didnt have it and I thought "kinda loud" when I got mine and drove it I thought "looks a little stupid but glad i have it"

Can you please post pics of the headliner? Particularly where the back windows are? I want to make sure they go down the sides just like the pics in Jeep website. The JK's didn't.
