I know the resistors that come with the LED turn signals get hot. Question is how hot? There only two places to put them on sport fender flares. Use the high bond tape and stick it to the underside of the flare or wire tie it to the harness. Is it going to get hot enough to hurt either?

This doesn't really help if you already bought something, but I went with CANsafe bulbs for mine, it's been 6 months with no issues so far. I assume the resistor is built into the bulb.

I removed the resistors on my raxiom sequential turn signals, and set the appropriate jscan settings. No errors, lights worked fine.

They get hot — like hot enough to melt plastic if they’re not mounted correctly. So your concern is valid. How hot they get depends on the ohm rating and wattage of the resistor, but regardless, the general rule is the same: never mount resistors directly to plastic, wiring, or tape if you can avoid it.

Best practice is always to mount them to metal / the chassis so the heat can dissipate safely.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. But where? The radiators are the size of a Twix bar. They're is no flat metal anywhere on a 21 sport with 2.0 and plastic fender flares. They are dangling in the garage like one of Salvador Dalis clocks. I would like to drive my Jeep again. Smh.

Mine were like small bricks, best option is to reprogram the jeep for LEDs And remove the resistors

Doesn't help the guy without jscan or tazer. Which is why I bought them with the resistors in the first place. I knew i could change it later. People on a budget have to make incremental gains.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware that JScan was an expensive option. I paid around $100 for everything I needed

No offense meant or taken. It will be end of Jan before I have the discretionary cash to throw at the jeep again. Christmas, $1000 for lights on black Friday, $3000 after the ZR2 inhaled it's torque converter, $8000 surgery so my pup could walk again, and paying off the remaining 23 years of my 30 year mortgage all in the last 12 months has me hoarding all the Benjamins for bit. Anyone with a tazer or jscan want to don't to a charity? Lol

You could ask around the jeep community to see if there is someone near you with a tazer or jscan that wouldn't mind helping you out. You would be very surprised the amount of support you would receive.

I was involved in a major renovation at the house. I needed some boards cut. I absolutely dreaded the thought of buying a table saw to make 2 lousy cuts. A friend posted my dilemma on Facebook I believe. I received an over whelming amount of support. A young gentleman made the cuts for me the next day and I was grateful.

Maybe hold off on installing them? Mine were just too hot around all that plastic. It made me nervous that the whole jeep was going to melt

Too late. Lol. Too much work to get back out. Anzo wiring harness was garbage. Had to canabalize the factory harness to repair thiers. Discovered the issues after install. Smh. I will write they whole thing up after I get done.

We’ve seen some pretty creative solutions on resistors. If mounting to chassis isn't an option, we recommend using a small spacer between the resistor and the plastic on the fender so it’s not sitting flush.

A rubber or nylon spacer works well — just something heat-resistant that allows a little airflow. The resistor doesn’t need to be bolted to thick steel, it just needs space to dissipate heat safely.

Spacer.... yes. Now that I can do! Thanks for the suggestion @ORACLElights . I will get back out there tomorrow night and see what that means.

Thought about went this wont work in my case. Headlights are diode dynamics for halogen replacement. The resistors are built into the heat sink. The turn signal powers the halo switchback. If i set the turn signals to led and cut the resistors out, I will still have led halos running on resistors fed by an led circuit. What a convoluted mess. Lesson learned. Just go straight to non halogen replacement leds and change the settings next time. Trying to stay simple is not simple. Too late now. I will get it right. Just taking the unnecessarily long road to get there.

Thanks to all for the thoughts and ideas. Great forum. Shout out to @ORACLElights for the contributions knowing i was infidel running the competitors product. Definitely earned consideration points for my next project. Still have pod lights on the bumper and all the aft ends lighting to do. Probably be some time though.
