I know a few people have replaced the ball joints with the new Dana HD joints. You can grease them but the lower is difficult to get with the shaft in. I found this grease gun adapter at a airplane mechanical supply shop. It fits in between the shaft and lower joint. I will try to post a link to the site later. It was about $20.

Edit and update... I installed 90* zerts on the lower and it works fine. Save your money. The aircraft nozzle doesn't work for shit. BTDT

I know I'm late to the party here, but do you remember what size, and thread pitch the 90 degree fittings you used were? I went to my local parts stores, but no one had a fitting that would screw in. Thanks!

Seconding this ask. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement zerk as my lowers have dropped out too, I'm afraid it's close to or already too late to save them - wondering if I should go the support route as well and see if they'd replace these as they came in my UD44 about 8000 miles ago at most. They don't publish the grease fitting specs anywhere.
