Sorry for potentially dumb question, but I assume this rack would be more than fine for transport of surf boards, standing paddle boards, etc. Right?

IF I do purchase one of these it wouldn't be until next summer. I have a soft top and my big family goes to the beach for a few weeks every summer. We always have kayaks, surf boards, etc. I want something that can handle those no problem and let me put my soft top down for the days when I'm not carrying a million water sport items.

Not dumb at all. The Gobi should be able to handle the surfboards and kayaks not problem. There's a guy in my local club whose loaded up two or three kayaks on his JK so I would think it should be fine. Just double check the weight of your equipment to the posted load limit of the rack before committing.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, I'll have to make sure to check the combined weight, but I should be good. Just wanted to make sure those types of things would fit/strap to it securely.

Jeep Wrangler JL Gobi Stealth Rack gc-pass-

This is my JK with a Gobi Stealth..In this pic there are 2 SUPs, paddles and a bicycle. Ive had 4 boards up there and with cross bars to extend the width I wouldn't hesitate to put six or eight boards up there. I hope that helps

If it’s anything like on the JK’s you have one bracket that bolts to the frame where the stock bumper bolts up. Then there is another bracket that clamps to the pinch seam and bolts to the frame bracket. That is the bracket the rack support bar (whatever the big ass u-shaped bar that goes up and over the Jeep that the rack floor bolt to is called).

So yeah, everything is completely bolt on with no drilling.
thanks. thats impressive. gobi seems to be the only outfit offering this solution for soft tops.

Have you checked availability through Northridge 4x4? I know with the JK’s they were the only outfit who had stock on these racks.

I haven't. Though I doubt anyone will have stock. I ordered one from GOBI as soon as they were available for pre-order and they quote a 12-16 week lead time curently. Don't know I have seen anyone actually receive one for a JL yet.....
