Front Drive Shaft Issues

I have a 2024 Rubicon X and the front drive shaft needs to be replaced. The boot on the end at the transfer case came off and the shaft is worn/damaged. The problem is the dealer can’t get the part. They don’t have it, other dealers won’t release it and at this point they are not being allowed to order it. They have been discussing an aftermarket shaft but don’t appear to want to pay for it under warranty, though they would install it.

Anybody dealt with this situation before and have any ideas on what I can do to move the ball forward?

Also, does anyone know the part number for the drive shaft?

There is very little to no info in the pipeline. Theres a total of 215pcs on Backorder. Of those only 2 are VOR (vehicle off road) orders. Have your dealer place the order as a VOR if your Jeep is disabled. This will put you at the front of the line.

If the part can’t be obtained in a reasonable amount of time, can the drive shaft be rebuilt? There are several quality drive line specialists in Atlanta.

No, it's a warranty claim which, they are acknowledging, but the part doesn't appear to be available. While some dealers have it, they're holding on them so they can service their customers.

I highly doubt Mopar will pay to have it rebuilt. Who will take responsibility should it fail again? This opens up too much liability for Mopar.

yeah, shur we want free stuff under warranty, but then you have to deal with the mothership dealerships.

So you Tried that route and found out about BACKLOG, blah blah blah no help and your still in a pickle.

In the world of jeep driveshaft there are very few that are better. Here in Las Vegas. Tell them your issue and they well send out what you need. It’s that easy, this is seriously basic question to get you going. On your dime, bulletproof quality and cool peeps.

I met with the dealer. In light of the backlog, there are going to see if they can get Jeep to consider an aftermarket part.

I reported to @JeepCares and got a case going.

Any 4x4 shop will probably have a bin full of used Mopar driveshafts if you need one until the warranty one is available. If you don't plan to use 4wd in the near future, I would just have it removed until a new one is available.

I think they only want to do the work once. If nothing else works, I may suggest the removal.
