Your old person reference went over my childish head. I'm going to assume sparkly grey.
A WAG, Firecracker Red w/o reading an further. That color does not sound like you, Mr. Cowpony. But it fits SoCal.

Ted-> Ted Turner->Atlanta Braves-> Red or Black? Oh, WTF, I don't even know what "inner Ted" is!

I mean insides are usually red so it holds up no matter who ted is.

Sorry to break up the Bro-Fest Love but I made the trip w/o issue.
I100 from Severn MD, where I was staying, was a cluster so no high speeds thru there. Once I hit I70 the rains came so that slowed traffic; no high speeds. Then the torrential downpour hit which really slowed the speeds. As that cleared my GPS took me on to I40, which I referred to as the hillbilly route as it took me thru all the small towns along the way. I am not sure what I programmed, but that kept my speeds down yet quite varied up and down the hills up to the 300 miles mark on the odometer.
Once thru that stretch and back on the I70 West I was able to pick up speed a bit and really air it out once the land got flat into Ohio. Long trip but Jeep drove great!
To add- sweet tea and beef sticks were the food of choice. Someone here mentioned jerky and coffee.

Ha ha, yeah, that was me. Jerky and coffee are my two food groups of choice when I'm on the road. All you need is a Thermos, and some napkins.

I ended up at a new Buckeys in Amarillo @ 3:00 in the morning. Besides gawking at all the people in Buckeys at that time of night, I managed to pick up a pound of jerky and Thermos full of hot coffee. Got me all the way home, with a full belly to boot!
