Hey everyone! Recently upgraded my 2-door JK Sport to a bucket list-worthy black JLU Rubi. It came with the MOPAR 2in lift and is running on 17x12.5r17 BFG KO2's on the stock Rubi wheels (which I believe have a +44 backspacing). Surprisingly, there's only a little rub at full lock with that tire/wheel combo. That said, I'd like to size the tires down to 35-in KO2s (315/70/17) for reasons. Figured that while I'm in the process of making this Rubi mine, I'd look at changing out the stock wheels, too. I ran some wheels with a hefty negative offset in my JK, and after years of dealing with Maine road salt, rocks, snow slush and general crud coating my door handles, I'd really like to keep any wheel poke in check.

Here's my question: I really like the Xtreme Recon wheels, but they're just not in the budget. I'd like to stay within the specs of those as closely as possible. The Method 316's seem like a possibility. They come in 17x8.0 and 17x8.5 width options. The 17x8 wheel has a backspace of +25, while the the 17x8.5 wheel has a backspace of +00. Based upon the calculator, a +25 backspace would only move my outer sidewall out about 3/4in from what I'm currently running, which is ideal. The thing that has me concerned is that Jeep-specific shops like Quadratech are only offering the 8.5in/+00 backspace wheel option. Is there something that I'm missing? Would the 17x8/+25 backspace wheel somehow not be compatible with suspension components?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can drop!

I assume you men 37's & not 17's :movember:

while only running the standard 285 rubicon tires on my daughter's sport, I, too, put Method wheels on her jeep. spend weeks calculating & looking for options.
I ended up with the +25's due to her not really being a big fan of excessive poke (although I DO understand that excessive is a relative term, based on the individual).

just because a place is not a "jeep specific" shop, doesn't mean you can't order from them, no?

find the wheel with the width/backspacing you want, and simply google the sku/item number. should give you dozens of options for purchase.

I just did a quick search for the matte black 316's in 17X8 with +25 offset: seems like this place has 'em for about $22 less than everyone else:

also, message Discount tire on here, they're a forum sponsor & can usually get enything at a savings, tires/wheels/sensors/mount/balance packages @discounttire

Ha! Yep, they're definitely 37-inch tires and not 17-inch tires. Good catch, thanks.

Thank you also for the information and the good price find. Certainly don't mind purchasing wheels from any business out there (and especially forum sponsors). I had just been concerned that the "Jeep specific" retailers weren't offering the 25+ offset wheels for some fitment issue that my homework wasn't revealing.

Most lifts with LCAs won't work with +25mms due to backspacing requirements, may be why you see less.

Mopar LCAs (and a few others) are clearanced inward to allow room for more positive offset.

for your reference, here's a shot of my daughter's sport with the +25 method wheels (althoughonly 285's, you'll get the general idea). keep in mind I've also put on the rubicon flares & xr extensions to keep the crap off the side of her jeep.

Note, Rubi axles are about 3/4” wider per side
