Long story short...I have a shit bumper that I need to either get rid of, or modify the fairlead mount. Looking at aftermarket options, I don't see the fairlead mount as being "hardcore". Am I correct that it isn't a high strength needed item? Many aftermarket ones I see look light a simple piece of bent steel. If I modify this one, it'll be a welded piece to the bumper, only losing side support.

Thoughts? Never had to think about this before...

The fairlead mount really didn't see much force worse normal use being the winch line getting pulled in at a angle. But you are most likely going to bend it hitting a tree or another car than use.

Look for something that is built with quality thick steel. A lot of the cheep bumpers use cheap thin steel in their construction
