Factory Towing Package - Data in UConnect

If you have the factory towing package, what options are included in UConnect that relate to towing? I read a thread somewhere that said there is a factory computer flash that can be done so that the vehicle recognizes when you are towing something. Also, something that activates the anti-sway bars?

Wondering if anyone can tell me if this is specific to the Rubicon, or if the Sport S models would benefit from it. Also, could someone take a couple pics of your UConnect screen showing what is in there?

I installed the Mopar receiver and wiring harness because I was dumb and didn't get the $800 factory package, but if there is something I can get with a computer flash at the dealer, I want in!

I think sway control is standard and is a part of the traction control system. So, not sure what benefit it would be to flash the computer. My Tazer JL programmer has an option for it, but no description of what it does. On some other vehicles, it automatically increases the one touch lane change to 5 flashes instead of 3.

Since the factory tow kit also comes with the 4 aux switches I thought the flash was only necessary to activate the aux controls in uconnect and had nothing to do with the actual tow receiver itself.

No, they are indeed, two separate things that need to be programmed by factory or dealer to work.

Or you can do with a TazerJL:

• Enable/Disable Trailer Tow setting
• Enable/Disable Aux Button settings

I sent an email to Z Automotive asking for additional details on the Enable/Disable Trailer Tow setting. It sounds like if your vehicle was pre-wired for the towing package then this setting may be needed to activate the trailer wiring harness, similar to the aux switches, if the four/seven pin connectors and ebrake controller were not installed at the factory. If your vehicle was not pre-wired and you installed the wiring harness, similar to 82216359AA, the wiring connects directly to the battery and existing light circuits, so the wiring is live with the install.

There was no indication from the Z Automotive support that activating the tow setting in the Tazer Mini JL provided any other functionality.
