Called Extreme terrain and Andrew helped me by phone. Told him I wanted to beef up the front end of my 2018 JLU and he offered a package. Synergy tie rod and drag link kit. Terra flex steering stabilizer, and synergy relocation bracket. $1000 plus. Ok, I will do it.
Get all of my stuff and go to work on the jeep. I am watching the install video and realize I don't have the mounting stud for the stabilizer (grrrrr). Call them and explain. They offer to sell me one ($31) and ship. I explain that my jeep is down and ask if they can expedite? Nope.
So I pay and wait, again. Stud arrives. I go to work. Get to the end and go to mount the relocation bracket......it's too big. Call the Manufacturer as extreme is closed. He says, nope wrong one. Suggests another place to get one. I buy it and wait......
Call Extreme today to get a refund for the wrong part they suggested and sent, and they say "sure we will refund, just take pics". They send me an email with a non working link to upload pics. More wasted time. I call again....
New customer service girl says she will resend. They want a photo of the box I am going to ship it in as a condition of refund, (really?). I upload. Then I am taken to a page where they let me know that I will be paying for the shipping to return the wrong part that they suggested I buy. Wow.

Man......no more. Maybe think twice before you choose Extreme Terrain.

Sorry to hear that. Speaking of, I have had big issues with Quadratec, 4WP, and Northridge to the point where I have come to the conclusion that the problem is more than likely.....me.

Literally never had an issue with any of these companies, guess I'm lucky?

That sucks. Overall I've had a good experience with ET. I installed an exhaust I bought from them and hated the drone. By the time I installed it and test drove it enough to know I didn't like it I was 1 day past the return period. I thought for sure I was screwed on a technicality - which was my fault. They were cool about it and sent me the same return site link. Everything worked and I uploaded pics of the exhaust, including the box (which I thought was funny too). Again, I thought they may try to find a way out of this return since it was used, but they accepted the return and I received my money back. I did have to pay for return shipping, but I didn't mind since I ordered it on my own. If they had recommended it to me and said it didn't drone I would have asked that they pay to return ship it, like in your case. Your gripe is legit.

As someone else mentioned, I had a nightmare with 4WP. Ordered a brake set that said it was 2 day guaranteed shipping. It sat waiting to be processed for a few weeks before I finally called their customer service. No one answered ever. I finally looked up their parent company and it turns out they were acquired shortly before I placed my order. I'm guessing it wasn't handled the way it should have been and all kinds of orders were missed and/or behind. I had to get the parent company to step in and refund my order. Took forever to get them to do it.

I ordered one and only one part ever on extreme terrain, my current Wranglers dead pedal. Which turned out was made in China. Needless to say within the first 20 minutes it bent in half. I was pissed. It took me about 8 months to finally finish off that project of reinforcing it with a quarter inch steel plate behind it. The main reason it took me so long was because I didn't have anything strong enough to cut through the steel plate.

After that, paying shipping and the ever haunting "review for $10 off" email I get for a part I ordered 2 years ago that they will never stop sending me. The worst part is I reviewed the part, gave them one star and left an honest and accurate but definitely not a positive review, which they never posted. I submitted that review three times over, on two different days. Still never posted it. I read online something about how they review reviews, and if it makes the product sound terrible, they don't post it.

Personally I buy all my important parts from local mom and pop shops. I used to get them from 4x4 Works in the Hopper Motorplex out in McKinney Texas, but they sold that location to a company called lifted truck. A lot of the people from 4x4 Works still work there, so I still order my important parts from them.

I have nothing against 4WParts, I just like how the guys over at Lifted Trucks Parts Department know me by name. I haven't been in there in 4 months, but if I walked in there tomorrow they'd all be saying "Hey Greg!" That's kind of nice.

I like the way y'all think. My local 4wd store is 4wd parts, lol. I will have to try and find a mom and pop! I am going to take everything you are saying and remember it!

You’re lucky. I ordered four parts from them in the spring. After four weeks of asking where they are I get shipping notifications. They sent the $2 part and claimed the full $150 order was in the tiny box. Spent another three weeks working with support who kept blaming a third party supplier and said they couldn’t refund it. I finally did a chargeback with my credit card.

I’ve used ET for 5 purchases nothing elaborate but functional pieces for my 22 Willy’s wrangler. All parts were shipped timely, I received shipping notifications, and all parts fit correctly. I have also order some of their open box products and they come as described. If it says missing parts I take them at their word.
also let me suggest that if you are doing extensive work that you make multiple calls to separate companies to verify fitment. I bounce purchases off my local shop, Quadratec, ET and then start looking at price points spreading the purchase around if need be to get what I need at the best price point. My personal experience is I don’t trust their techs until I have heard the same thing from at least 2 people.

I've always found that works really well. Nothing better than the credit card company taking their money back. We had issues with our pest control company for our house giving us issues a couple months back, they kept charging us even though they were supposed to be applying a credit. After the third phone call we just called the credit card company and reverse the charge. They got pissed and ended up applying the credit when they realized they weren't going to get paid. Funny how that works.

I've ordered a few things from ET and have gotten what I asked for. The parts always shipped direct from the manufacturers so I think ET is basically on online storefront with limited if any stock and minimal support. Better know exactly what you need... I like Quadratec, but most times I tried to order they were out of stock, plus with discounts the Mopar parts I've ordered were cheaper through my dealer. I appreciate their install videos so give them business when I can.

Which reminds me that a few times recently I have found ordering direct from the manufacturer was cheaper than Amazon even with "free" Prime shipping.

I just had a pretty discouraging interaction with Quadratec. I ordered Mopar LCA's and one exited the box in shipment. I don't fault them for this. I then had weeks of the run around for an update on its replacement. I ended up ording the replacement from Rock Auto after becoming sick of the same response of them waiting on their vendor. Last time I'll go there.

Credit card is definitely the way to go. They have full departments to take on these issues. Glad you got your issue taken care of too.

Extreme Terrain is owned by the same company that owns American Muscle, which is the Walmart in the Mustang World. They are a huge company with massive inventory. Some products only drop ship from the manufacturer.

for a more personalized experience hit up marcus at River City Offroad. Hes on here and very responsive
