Has anyone installed an exhaust on a 4xe, granted I know it is a 4 cyl with limitations... I am looking at the Borla Climber catback Touring vs S-Type. Anyone have experience with how these sound? Any compatibility issues with this model on the 4xe? Thanks

I've got the Borla Climber Touring catback on my JLUR and love it. It's a little bit more throaty without being obnoxious. I also have the Mishimoto cold air intake and intercooler pipe to complement the catback exhaust. I've had it installed for a little over two years now. I can't provide any feedback on compatibility with the 4xe.

Just checked the Borla site and it doesn't even list the Jeep brand after choosing 2023. For 2022 it's showing the Touring Climber cat-back for the 2.0, but it does say "except 4xe". It just doesn't explain why. Obviously a fitment issue, but where?

I have that system on my 19 JLUR with the eTorque 2.0, so I've got the extra battery pack and it's skid plate mounted in the path of the exhaust, but it fit perfectly clear of everything. Makes me wonder whats so different under a 4xe. It's a shame, because it's a great system.

thanks, yeah i noticed all that you mentioned. i spoke to borla, they just said the design/configuration is different on the 4xe, and no plans in near future to make it compatible.

Not sure there's a huge market to make a hybrid sound "throaty" lol. I have noticed a LOT of mods say they aren't compatible with the 4xe. In some spaces you guys seem to have less than us 2-doors.

haha yes i understand... but i also don't understand. it's a hybrid. it's got both an electric and a gas engine that is used and that you can hear. if the gas engine is suboptimal stock, shouldn't be unreasonable to want to modify it... !

Not saying you're wrong, but it's also a bit of an oxymoron, 'aggressive hybrid' lol. What part of it is sub-optimal?

the engine whines terribly loud even at idle in the parking garage. it's a 2.0L turbo 4. not sure if an exhaust would fix all of it, but it will probably help a little bit. i would like to hear it come on when it's wide open throttle as well.

and was going for the high clearance catback to make for better off-road use

Well, it's the same 2.0 turbo engine that used to come with the mild hybrid eTorque system, which I have, and the current ESS version. It's actually rather nice to trade the economy sound for a nice subtle bass tone, but without suffering drone or sounding like a fast and the furious reject. ?

The high ground clearance and cleaner rear end are extra benefits...
