Solid State batteries - RIGHT - now that's the solution we should all be rallying around!!!
Correct again sir- with the range and charging time Toyota has announced for the coming high performance ones ~ 29/30 true market forces will prevail proving the “Blind Hatred” for EV’s I have been accused of was NOT for the EV’s themselves…. Also proving shoving them up our a$$ prematurely creating the accused “Blind Hatred” was completely unnecessary….
I am keeping an eye on the new LC 1958 for a GC replacement that would cost virtually nothing for daily errands with home solar. ?

How are EVs being ' shoved up your ass '? Just curious. CA has the soonest new car mandate and that's 11 freaking years away which is a lifetime in technology advances in this sector.

See earlier post starting with Mandate. Also see post saying tech, including the coming solid state batteries made it unnecessary.
Would you prefer the term “Pressured”
I do freely admit accepting the ~ $14K bribe-uh rebate- er tax credit - umm incentive …. aww hell- I can and was bought to get home solar. ?

The 1958 is a plug-in hybrid?? I see that it's got an i4/electric system pushing 465TQ, but don't see any mention of being plug-in (just wondering cause you mentioned solar).

Anyway, that's a great-looking 4x4 at a decent price with some respectable power. Very clean design. Just needs some beefy tires pushed out another inch to the wheel wells (and maybe the TRD hybrid/turbo v6 powertrain as an option).

Imo pure EVs make absolutely zero sense in the colder climates and vast expanses of rural America, but hybrids kinda minimize a lot of those concerns.

Hmmm, I don’t recall if it’s plug in, but with 5-6 years before the high performance S S batteries are production ( Toyota said limited production before then, suspect Lexus/ high end) l will investigate thoroughly. It would be a GC replacement pavement princess. But yea- unnecessary wheels, tires, maybe a small lift required. ? No pure EV interest.

This is FUD from Facebook clickbait nonstories that oil trolls post. Is the US colder than scandinavia which are majority EV in new sales? They're doing fine with them. Range reduced about 20%. Granted. Sky falling? Maybe Norwegians, Fins, and Swedes don't need 400 miles per day like Americans.....

Meanwhile....pesky facts. The average American round trip work commute is 41 miles. Every BEV produced can handle that and far more even in cold climates.

I understand that the oil propaganda trolls spun wild tails of ' all BEVs stranded ' in Chicago when it was more like 12, and not because they were BEVs.

Nice selective trimming of my statement, which describes my own personal concerns/reservations (imo, as stated) and was the totality of A) cold weather decreasing range, combined with B) in rural areas where the nearest small city is often 30 to 60 minutes away (and unlikely to have many charging stations, if any at all).

Sure, some people can certainly make it work if they want to and have the supporting infrastructure wherever they live, but I'm personally not interested in having range anxiety or having to plan my routes around the closest towns/cities (nor do I wish to "fill up" for any longer than 5 minutes when travelling).

At this time, ICE and hybrid just make a lot more sense to me for my particular climate and region, but enjoy your crusade or whatever ?

I drive a brick Gladiator that gets 14mpg for leisure. Prior to that was a GT500. I'm not on a crusade. I voted for Trump twice. I wish EVs weren't a political issue because they're awesome.

I can't even describe the hate I get for owning a Tesla. People scream " fuk u lib!!! " at stoplights. Hilarious, clueless people.

The only real way to reduce the carbon footprint is to keep your vehicle on average for at least 6-7 years. Nobody keeps their car that long, except for a few. I have my original 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. Their are a ton of people I know that get new vehicles every 2-3 years and as we know the biggest carbon footprint for any vehicle is when it's being produced.

I think the major problem with EVs is the pending ban on the sale of gas vehicles, coupled with the government paying people a lot of money to buy EVs, what is even worse is the Big 3 cannot even make an affordable EV, and the way things are looking, they may never be able to make affordable EVs.

Then there is all the money wasted on failed EV infrastructure, they are all now going NACS, because no one except Elon Musk can build a reliable working charger ?

True.

It's important for people to understand that we have spent countless trillions of dollars of money and blood and souls and treasure on oil. EV subsidies are microscopic compared to oil subsidies people are just used to oil subsidies so they don't see them.

No Americans have died for BEVs. 10s of thousands have died for cheap gas.

Agree- it shouldn’t and wouldn’t be were it not for the agenda driven ones you likely didn’t vote for implementing market manipulation by all possible means regardless of consequences intended or not to justify their ends. Even the laws of diminishing returns be damned for the cause. The emotional responses both ways were created leaving a result with

Without intervention and manipulation EV adoption would have taken longer with the game changer possibly coming in a few years. But Nope

Agree. Btw super jealous of your 392. Not in my current hand of cards with 3 young kids. A 'cheap' $55k Mojave was my limit.....lmao. Miss my Shelby but also love my Jeep!

I personally have nothing against pure EVs and do like some things about them (mostly the insta-torque and acceleration), but I have a love/hate relationship with batteries probably going back to my childhood and certainly from my lifelong love of tech and gadgetry going back many decades.

Unless something has changed recently, a battery's effective capacity continuously decreases over time (which is further exacerbated by cold weather). I live in a sparsely populated region that usually ranges from 90F down to -20F throughout the year, I've never seen a charging station irl, I keep my vehicles for well over a decade and I'm insanely impatient (even stopping for gas for 5 minutes every 300 miles in my 2-door annoys the shit out of me). And with all of that, I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could make an EV work for me.. I just don't want to.

At this current time I'd certainly consider a hybrid, since I already have the goofy MHEV eTorque that really doesn't do anything for fuel economy (and not much in the way of torque for that matter). And I'd probably consider a pure EV if and when battery tech improves in a remarkable manner. Again, just me and my personal reservations/opinions and I have nothing at all against current EVs or those that like them as they are now.

I'm with ya.

Our Tesla is my wifes. She was driving a 2014 Acura MDX. 3 kids...3 schools....3+ sports..... $500+ a month in gasoline. The Tesla and home charging is free now that our savings paid for the panels. When socal gas goes up 2$ for whatever effing reason...we are free.
