ESS not ready ruleset found

After much searching I came across https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10247948-9999.pdf (also attached) which describes the ruleset used in the ESS to decide if it can allow the ESS to stop the engine. Very useful.

Perhaps this list is written for both automatic and standard transmissions vehicles, and therefore avoids this condition...

...or perhaps I missed it, but for those with automatic transmissions ESS won't engage, on top of all of the other conditions, if the vehicle is in a manual gear. Maybe this is better stated as "if the vehicle isn't in Drive," I'm not sure.

Funny. The person who wrote this list for Stellantis, as evidenced by the PDF title, likely has someone in their lives involved in Upward Basketball which was foreign to me prior to your post

..so there's that new learning here too.
