I was looking at fabbing up my own pipe for off road use, but then I noticed there are race pipes out there for the gladiator. Do you guys know if they will work for the wrangler. They are 1/3 the cost of a full wrangler exhaust. As long as it makes a good connection from the turbo/down pipe back I could make andy minor mods to the end. I’m trying to:
- save money by not buying a full stainless exhaust
- save time not having to fab up a bunch of connectors
- not damage the existing exhaust so I can easily be on road ready

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I have a straight pipe after the exhaust filter. But I don’t know if I would call that as a race pipe? That being said, the theory goes with the straight pipe after the exhaust filter is you get better airflow. But there has never been any proven documentation to support that it creates more power. Beyond that, it gives the motor a little bit more rumble compared to the stock muffler. For some that is cool. For others they might not care for that. If that is what you are looking for, then the question that needs to be asked is do you have a skid plate for the def tank? If so, they will not work.

that is unless you modify the skid or pipe. I would recommend the latter of the two. Even though the first would possibly be the easier fix.

Thanks for info so far guys. I want to keep the later sections of the existing exhaust. I’m only wanting the race pipe to take the place of the filter. So I’m looking for something that replaces the turbo to muffler section.

The biggest issue is that people will use "off road only" parts for vehicles on the road. And that violates federal law. Manufacturers have stopped producing emissions defeating devices in the US. Mostly because the EPA came after them with big fines and more. Nobody in the US is advertising any parts so they're really hard to find.

While the political winds have shifted in the short term they're likely to swing back at some point. No idea if anyone will try to produce anything right now.
