I am starting to get buyers remorse for this JL. It is close to or beat the amount of time its been in the shop compared to the vehicle its replacing. Ive had the JL 3 months now and other other vehicle 20 years. Jeep is feeling like a paper tiger. I did a very mild off road, hit some bumps and after one of the doors was making a horrible sound when opening. Also did not open fully. Great. In the shop it goes, something broke in the door hinge and part on order. So.. a week later my jeep sits in the shop still and I am without a vehicle. What a great service department... Hit a bump and break the door? Really? Its THAT F*CKING Fragile??

Why do you think so many owners drive with doors off? At least, your doors wouldn't be laying in a ditch somewhere.

Apparently this is a failed weld. Add this to the list of growing weld complaints.

Did you look/listen and attempt to locate the problem ??

May have been a loosened hinge and misaligned "ALIGNMENT PIN"-and easily fixable !

Whatever

I've pretty well beat the hell out of my JLUR off-road and haven't had a single issue. Then again I haven't had any of the issues that people are reporting. I guess I just got lucky

Yeh NO... It may have been gremlins, aliens, ghosts, or the man from the moon. But it wasn't. It was a failed weld and took dealer about 6 hours of work to repair. They had to use a special tool to cut off a bolt to get to the broken piece, as there was no way to repair other than this. About 4 hours of carefully cutting away. Nothing simple about this.

This is interesting. Do you have any pics of the failed part? Was the failed weld in the door behind the door skin, in the door jamb or the actual hinge?

Sorry no pics. I spoke briefly to the mechanic whom fixed it. I think he said behind the door skin. Not the hinge at least.
