My Jeep went into the shop yesterday with a blown turbo. but while I was trying to get there, I noticed my charging system acting strange. Now I have 2 other JLU's and a Gladiator in my stable to compare to and none of them do this. as a matter of fact ALL of them are steady at 14.1 vdc! ALL OF THEM. My voltage will fluctuate between 12.3 and 14.1 literally as I am driving depending on the load i put into the motor. Watch my speed and RPMs. I'm not running the heck out of it, as I am in Limp mode. but check out the voltage. The dealer swears this is normal on the ecodeisel, but I call BS! anyone with a diesel please verify this for me as I don't have a spare of those in my garage.?

I've seen the voltage fluctuate on mine all the time.

I haven't really tracked it but I think it runs higher when charging the battery and once charged the voltage drops off. I would have to spend more time tracking it to be sure.

My JLURD fluctuates as you described. I’ll check my JTRD later today but expect the same.

Thanks...I was concerned as my poor jeep has had a hard life so far. Those damn gremins won't leave it be!

Voltage fluctuates on all JLs and JTs regardless of the engine type (not sure abut 4XE).
When you press the gas pedal, the display shows lower voltage and when you take the foot off the pedal, it shows higher voltage.
Pressing and releasing the pedal alternates the voltage display from the alternator and the battery.
