I had my JL on a 180-mile freeway trip yesterday and I got to thinking: Will JL's with tall tires and gearing see premature driveline wear?

I punched some rough numbers into a driveline RPM calculator. Estimated 34" for a 305/70/17 BFG KO2. Is this driveline speed reasonable for freeway cruising?

I'm surprised no one has chimed in. Short: Yes it does. If you keep it close to factory you should be good. i.e. tire size and gear ratio. Much faster than original will shorted U-joint life and make the shaft more balance sensitive. Balance can be affected by impact to the shaft or sticky debris. Slower shouldn't hurt. Use actual tire OD from manufacturers spec.

Where's the link to your "calculator"?
