I am worried about banging and clanging. Do you leave them In recovery bag or on bumper? How do you stop banging if your leave them on?

A simple cheap solution is get the small felt pads for the bottom of table legs or chairs. Stick it on the bumper behind where it’ll hit. Problem solved. Use a sharpie to color it the same color as the bumper.

After a certain amount of recoveries, you'll find D-rings start mucking with the bumper's powder coat. So, I fully moved away from traditional D-rings and switched to Gator-Jaw soft shackles for my bumper side of a recovery. Quicker set up too.
