Different viscosity but same pour point

Guys, PUP 5w30 and PUP 0w20 have same exact pour point of -48 degree celcius. How is that even possible? 5w is thicker than 0w.

Also, Ultra Platinum is thicker(8.8) than Platinum(8.4) at degrees.

Because the test is done in increments of 3 degrees C or around 5.4F so while probably not exactly the same at that low of temp both cease to flow between -49F and -54.4F

Additionally, while synthetic it is characteristically similar enough to mineral based oils in this class that tend to have pour points asymptomatic to around -48 degrees C

No it is not cold here lol, today it was 59 degrees. I am just trying to learn. Because next month I will change my oil to PUP 5w30. If both have almost identical pour points, then PUP 5w30 should also quickly flow to the engine at cold start, almost as quick as PUP 0w20.

A couple of points to think about there. Is pour point really the factor to consider. It is effectively measuring the flow or lack thereof at an extreme point. If both demonstrate a very similar pour point does that also mean their relationship is the same across all temperatures? Is the flow rate linear across temperatures?

Do some research on what test is use for the winter grade and what test is use for the standard grade.
