Ok for anyone that was looking to use the blanks on the Air condition controls. I can assure you that they DO NOT come off. I completely disassembled mine for testing. Once you get down to the guts. They are securely attached and if you were wanting to run aux switch there, wiring would be next to impossible as the computer board is behind them. The attached photo shows the items I am speaking off
