DC convertor

Looking to install a good DC-AC convertor. Looking for recommendations and where to install, if at all, under the hood of a 2018 JL Rubicon. If not under the hood, a location with easy access.

Possibly a big cooler, camping lights, power tools. Just looking at options. Never now when the need might arise for 110v and a supply better than the Jeep built in capability.

Most inverters will like being installed inside the vehicle, and one that can run something with heft will be quite large. I've installed them to run small items, and it might be a better idea to look into a Goal Zero Yeti/Jackery since it might serve you better.

How much DC to you have!

Per the DC to AC conversion calculator found here, you need a minimum of 110 amps of 12 vdc to make 10 amps of 120 vac, and that would take a minimum of 1200 watts of inverter.

Just for fun I looked at a Skil 7-1/4" circular saw at Lowe's. It has 15 amp motor.

Note: DC to AC = inverter. AC to DC = converter. And I have no idea why.

DC supply is less of an issue with the engine (alternator) running.

15 amps is a ton to supply and takes a big and relatively expensive inverter.
