Outstanding build thread. Great seeing the changes and your thoughts! Impressive history of Jeep ownership.
Appreciate it!

Spent Saturday at Uwharrie NF near Troy, NC. First time out there and the first time having this Jeep off-road. It was a great opportunity to see how the Jeep would handle and how my 5YO would like off-roading.

Ran Wolfs Den, Falls Dam, and Dickey Bell. The hill on Dickey Bell was the only real noteworthy part of those trails. It was busy and I didn’t want to be “that guy” so I drove it and didn’t stop to take pics. My daughter had her fill after that so we aired up and headed back to camp.

After a frigid night in the tent we turned on the heated seats and warmed up as we caught sun-rise on the top of Morrow Mtn and then headed home.

The Jeep performed above expectations given the modest build. Only caught the belly once on the last section of the hill on DB. A little throttle and we kept it going. Control arm mount took a bump coming off a rock I think on the same trail.

Smacked the rear diff once or twice, but the drain plug didn’t get touched. Glad I preemptively recessed it.

I definitely miss having 37s and frt/rr lockers, but not as much as I thought I would thankfully. Time will tell.

Found a set of pretty much new Roam frame mounted sliders on FB Marketplace for $550. My wife and daughter were complaining of the lack of step to get in the Jeep, so I picked them up and installed them yesterday.

The added bonus was that the previous owner had already wired all the lights up, so I just ran a ground and a hot lead to the floorboard light and they were ready to go.

I like where you are going with this build! Looking forward to seeing where you take it from here.

Just got this last week and I too wanted a JLUR but did not want the payments!!

Thanks very much! And congrats on the new Jeep! That is a great color combo especially with the gloss black accents.

Nothing too exciting going on with the Jeep. Installed second car seat mod:

Should be using that in the next 3-5 days...

I also picked up an 8-piece Rock Light Kit and wired those up last week. Haven’t done any night wheeling with them yet, but they’ve come in handy a few times in the driveway. Install was easy and I’ve got it hooked up to Aux Switch 1.

The bottom of the winch plate proved to be a good mounting point for the lights and give good coverage of the front wheel wells.

We brought our daughter home from the hospital in my JKU a few years ago, so it only seemed fitting to bring home my son from the hospital in the JLU. He seemed indifferent and slept the whole way home...

Also swapped out the hardtop for a twill soft top. Since the Jeep is not our primary family vehicle and I was tired of taking the hardtop off whenever there was a nice day, it was an easy decision. Negligible increase in road noise, can hear the rain a bit more, but I’m happy with the noise level.
