Just curious how many people would or are planning on having their Jeep custom painted? This could be a solid or two tone etc. color, or even a full blown custom paint job with airbrushed artwork.

I like custom stuff when it's done properly. I've been watching a lot of old car shows on YouTube the last couple weeks and they are always doing some sort of custom paint job that looks really cool (most of the time ?) and it got me thinking.

I know people out there want to keep the oem paint job for collector purposes or you just really like the oem color, nothing wrong with that either!

If you had your Jeep painted let's see some pics!

There are a few wranglers I've seen with custom line-x jobs that look amazing. If I had the cash and didn't care about potential resale, I would do it.

That would be pretty sweet, probably help with pin stripes a little bit.

I want to do bed liner. But only after I scratch the hell out of my paint with pin stripes or the hinges start corroding.

I would consider it, if in the future the factory paint begins to fail and the rest of the Jeep is in really good shape.

If money was no object, I would have bought a black one and had Commando Green painted on the outside body panels, leaving the grille, door jambs, under hood areas and roll cage black.

Ii have had custom paint work done on most everything I have owned. The only problem with that type of personalizing is resale. It can sometimes take a lot longer to sell than something with stock paint. I remember trying to sell my last hot rod with custom paint and the first guy who looked at it wanted to have it wrapped because his girlfriend hated the paint. Fortunately the next guy loved it and offered me more $

Personally probably not. The factory paint, while shit in some spots, is for the most part really thick. I went down the road of having bare half doors painted last summer by a local shop, and at the end of the day their application was good, but way thinner - I'm already missing some from scratches in a few places. Can't fathom the idea of the price of having the whole vehicle painted and then having scratches showing up soon after.

I probably wouldn't have let the first guy buy it if he was going to put a wrap on it haha!

You could always put the 3m or similar PPF on there to prevent scratches. Not sure how well that stuff holds up to branches when wheeling though.

A wrap would be a better choice probably. Then easy to undo for resale.

personally I'm not a fan of wraps unless you're doing company logos etc. Also not a fan of plasti-dip.

Ha mine is both wrapped and plasti dipped. I really wanted bikini but the only Wrangler I could find at the time with everything I wanted was billet silver. I looked into re-painting and it was cheaper for a really good wrap job so I did that instead. The body is wrapped and all the hinges are plasti-dipped. It's been 3 years so far and it's held up great.

I know people out there want to keep the oem paint job for collector purposes..:
A vehicle that has ~200k produced annually is not going to be anywhere close to be a collectors item. To get a paint job as good as OEM (even with Jeep paint flaws) is going to cost a lot of money. If you want to change the color most people just go with wraps.

I don’t see an realistic return on investment for custom painting a brand new car.
