hey Guys,

New to the forum. Picked up a rubicon JLU. Have loved it but have come across issues that I wanted to share.

First issue: the USB connector in the Center console is glitchy. Phone got disconnected. Wouldn’t provide a connection for a while. Made an appointment with the dealership and next day was working fine so couldn’t replicate the problem. Waiting for it to come back to get fixed properly.

Second issue and most annoying is this creaking sound coming from the top of the pillar on the drivers side so I hear it in my left ear every time I accelerate or decelerate and the body flexes. Just came back from the dealership and they took everything apart and couldn’t fix it. Made an appointment for me with the body shop which I’m not too happy to hear for a vehicle that has 2k km on it. 1200 miles.

Anyone think sending to the body shop is problematic?

That aside, looking to get some 37s and rock this rubi all the way!

I had the same issue with the creaking. For me, when I grabbed the left rear pull handle, it made the noise. I ended up loosening the two bolts that held it on, then shifted the plastic pillar, then re-tightened. Went away...for now!

I have the exact same issue on mine! Did you ever find out what it was?

I had this issue as well. Turned out there is a plastic peg on the freedom top that slots into a hole on your frame and that was rubbing against the plastic clip from my JTopUSA shade. My issue was probably unique to owning the JTopUSA shade but keep in mind there are some plastic components on the freedom top that could rub. Look at em and see if they have any discoloration from rubbing on something causing the sound to occur.

I’m running soft top now. I stripped all plastic off of the roll bar and isolated the sound to the actual metal of where the side pillar meets the roll bar. I think I have a frame issue. Going to start taking it to the stealership to begin the lemon process. Started at 800 miles. Currently has 1500 and it’s awful.

I have the same issue too and it goes away if I unbuckle the freedom lever above my head.

I have this exact issue with mine. I removed the top and all of the plastic trim. The squeaking sound is still there where the B pillar and top roll-bar are connected. It definitely gets louder when there is torque applied to the frame (accelerating, turning, braking).

I'm going to have the dealership look at it when I get my oil changed. Started around 1000 miles.

YES! Starting out from a stop, turning, all of that. Mine gets worse on hotter days like the metal has expanded or something. Please update this thread when you visit the dealership. Mine said they can’t find anything.

Make sure the freedom top screw holding the rear roof on is tight. It needs to be well tight on mine or it ticks constantly. It seems to work loose over a few days. I’m gonna try some Teflon tape under the roof next.

Hi NOVAJL,
I completely understand how frustrating this probably is. We're happy to see that you plan to have your dealer look into this though. You can send us a private message if you would like an added layer of assistance while your Jeep is being serviced.

I’ll be sure to PM you too when mine goes in again for this issue. Sounds like a frame issue.

I also have this issue. I reported it to my service tech last time my JLU was in the shop. I was told it’s normal.
