Hi guys, I'm considering buying a steel take off bumper that's for sale somewhat locally (about 2 hours away), but I'm unsure if it's the correct bumper. I have a 2018 JLUR with stock painted fender flares and the rear parking sensors. Some posts I've read say some of the rear bumpers don't quite line up correctly to the fender flare bottom. It seems the part number I NEED is " 68295568AC" but after speaking with the seller online, the bumper part number he finds is " 68295568AB". I've seen a few websites stating that the "B" also replaces the "C" part but I'm just unsure. The seller also works at a shop, so he is unsure of the exact Jeep it was removed from.

Anyone that may have experience with this issue or know about the part number dilemma?

Thanks so much.

Part number revisions such as these can be as simple as a different location where its manufactured. As far as the bumper not quite lining up properly with the bottom of the fenders, that will more or less be attributed to your Jeep. These things don't bolt on with exact precision, especially with the goofy brackets required for the frame rails, so you'll have some room for adjustment.

The fact you have a 2018 and by nature of the part number not being the absolute latest, I can't see why you'd have any issues. Just bear in mind that the OEM steel rear bumper doesn't really provide any better protection than the plastic one. In fact, you're more likely to take more damage to the bottom of the tub because of the poor mounting design. It's a decent looking bumper, just not a very functional one.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I may just end up looking at after market bumpers again, after all. You're not the first person I've heard mention that the steel oem rear bumper wasn't as good of protection as the plastic one. Plus, now from what I've looked up on the bumper I'd be buying (68295568AB), the end caps look to be for the sport/sahara models so I'd still have to buy the end caps.... ?‍♂ Thanks!!
