Ordered a paint kit that was supposed to come with everything I need because I want to paint match my spare tire delete and it came with black primer.

I am curious if anybody else has tried to color match sting-gray/PDN and if so what color primer was required.

PDN is the actual paint code.

I painted my dash to match and it is very close match. I cannot tell a difference at all between the dash and the rest of the Jeep. I used a gray primer however. I'd just buy a gray auto primer and use that. It isn't very much.

Interesting and thank you for the info. Looks like your dash panels turned out pretty nice.

i would use a grey automotive primer as well. it will cover the black plastic a lot easier. just make sure you clean the pieces really good. may even want to scuff them with some scotch bright and then reclean them.

Oh I know all that I was just surprised by the inclusion of black primer instead of gray. The place I ordered from guaranteed 100% color match so I would figure they knew what they were doing that's why I wanted to make sure. The thing is primer color impacts final color so if there's a reason they included black primer instead of gray I needed to make sure it's correct. It seems like gray primer works just as well, I might just do it in black anyway and if it doesn't turn out right just get another and do it in gray and see which one matches better and install that one.
