So the Cleghorn trip was a non starter. Anyone interested in doing Sidewinder this weekend? I know @Inkhero and @Craigger have experience running it before.

Since you guys live down that way you can maybe offer some insight into whether or not the temps are too hot right now to attempt it.

It’s been an oddly cooler summer this year although Sept is the hottest month maybe the worst is yet to come.
I have zero complaints about this summer for sure. I ran the trial in safari mode. the worst part was coming back through Temecula it was 109.. I do recommend that trail it was a blast!

Well I guess I'll see if I can get a small group interested. Looks like it's about a 3.5 hour drive for me but I think I'd still plan to make it a day trip.

I'm a no. I'm in Sac all week and have a bunch of crap to do this weekend. Have a few more work trips through mid Sep but once I'm done with those I should have a lot more time open as I'm done with school.

I'm out - I have class this Saturday. I was doors-off last year.

You're going to love the obstacle called 'Tippy' :)

Well at the moment I'm feeling like I have no takers again. Seems like a busy summer for ya'll.

I'm not sure what my plans are yet for this weekend, but they likely involve running or bicycles. I need some more mountain time.

I may end up trying for Cleghorn again if I can get at least 1 other to go. Would be nice to get the Jeep out there again, it's just been sitting in the driveway looking sad for weeks.

Had a super fun day out at Cleghorn filled with rain, thunder, lightening and bees.

Jeep Wrangler JL Cleghorn (previously Sidewinder) - 8/23 {filename}

As we headed up to Edison Hill it started raining pretty hard. Here's the best pic I could get of @Inkhero from inside my Jeep.

The rain at least kept the dust down and it was a cool 60 degrees outside for most of the run.

Travis wanted to try The Chute so I decided to do it also and see if I could do it better than the first time. I almost thought we were in the wrong spot as the skull/crossbones rock is gone or maybe I just missed it?

Not too bad on damage. A bit of a scrape on the bottom of my bumper and some rim rash. I was able to avoid hitting my fenders this time.

The last quarter of the trail was pretty devastating to see the destruction from the fire. It also smelled terrible.

We got off the trail around 2PMish and aired back up.

Then I went to get some post wheeling french fries. In my excitement for fries I locked my keys inside the Jeep when I got to the restaurant. Had to use my emergency wallet key to get back inside. :(

Thanks @Inkhero for coming out today. Will maybe have some video to share once Jeff edits his GoPro stuff together.

I still think we need to try going up the chute. Might need to do it on a weekday to avoid causing a traffic jam.

We ran into a few vehicles going east to west but only on the main fire road, not on the offshoots.

When we ran the chute there was another guy there with his Jeep that ended up taking some good video for us. He recommended another trail nearby called Pilot Rock - 2N17X. He said it was his favorite trail in the area.
