OK, i posted this a little while ago, but removed it when I thought i had a solution. I was unsuccessful getting the software update, so I am re-posting it even cheaper.
this is a 7" uconnect 4 from a 2018 wrangler. It was a pre-production, or "pilot vehicle". I had trouble getting the code at first, but finally got it. When i install it in my JL, the radio works, but carplay and android auto don't work. The build sheet does specifically say it has them, so i dont know why they dont work. Also, the backup camera can be activated through the controls menu, but when i shift into reverse it does not pop up on the screen. I installed it into my 2016 grand cherokee, and when i shift it into reverse, the camera does pop up. so i have no idea why it doesnt when in my JL- i dont know if it is a JL problem, or a problem because my JL is a manual.
When in dealer mode, the software level is 1648.22. This is several releases behind. When i go to the uconnect site and put in the VIN, it says "up to date". I actually called uconnect, gave them the VIN, and they said there was an update that is dealer only, and tied to a TSB. Whether or not it will fix them, i have no clue. At this point, i spent the extra money and bought an 8.4". I just want to recoup my losses on this. $200 plus shipping, open to offers.
