Thinking about buying this for my brother since his JL has the basic radio, do I need your VIN to get a code from the dealership?

I think so,, you take the vin and go to your dealer to get the code,,,, my jeep only has 10,000 miles on it,, so its not used much,, and Im not a music person, I just upgraded and added a gps antenna for the navigation,,,, ok so I just read its should be in my owners manual,,, I will take a look and see,,, if not my dealer is less than 10 minutes away and I will go get it.

That is pretty awesome of you, I will for sure buy it. My bro was so excited to have a wrangler but when I saw the radio I figured I would dig around the forums for an upgrade.
