This is a lot of good information. Thank you for sharing. Does adding a catch can stop any of this from working? It appears, from the description, under boost the oil catch can will offer some additional protection.
Interesting question.

The operation description seems to show a two way use of the hose. This differs from a standard setup where the PCV valve is a one way check valve.

If the oil covered the crankcase side of the tube in the catch can, it could act as a check valve preventing the backflow of the air to blow the factory separator clean.

The whole idea of a catch can is to keep the oil vapor from going into the intake. However much or little it may be, the intake valves will get dirty more quickly without a catch can installed. It's not needed, kind of like how a turbo after oiler is not needed. It just makes good sense.

I have the UPR on both my wranglers 3.6 for about a year now and
you will be surprised on how much oil is collected in just 500 miles
Also if you have a UPR and the back hose fitting is seeping oil they will send you an updated replacement hose for free
I wish I would have known about catch cans sooner and how well they really work

I need a can for the 4XE. Mounting brackets seem to fit anything else. Does anyone make a 4XE specific bracket?

We just bought a 2023 Rubicon 4xe and I want to put a catch can on it. Any suggestions? I see a few out there, but don't want a CEL by going the wrong route.
I know it is not the same. Put one on a 392 challenger. But I seen no benefit as very little oil is ever in the can. I figured if needed it would have one from the factory

The factory doesn't want the liability if an owner forgets to empty it.

I have seen condensation in my wife's catch can mostly because we do shorter trips with hers
I always warm up my jeeps for at least 10 minutes to get the oil up to temperature to help burn off condensation in the oil. And I live in California. I can see if you live in a high humidity or wet state that this could be a real problem
Just another reason to install a catch can and keep that crap out of the intake air stream
