A Rolex is still just a watch.
You pay alot more for perceived premiums.
It's how status symbols and capitalism works.
Don't they teach this is school? 😁
That is what i was implying. I do not wish to own a 392 jeep as a status symbol. That (at least to me) is kinda the antithesis of the whole jeep thing.

I would like to have a 392 as a reasonable option as a motor choice.
$30k+ is not reasonable to me.
Just my $0.02

Yeah, I know it is ridiculous to charge that much for basically an upgraded engine. And, otherwise I agree totally, even though I own a 392 I think the 5.7 hemi would be a better fit.
Cost wise sure, affordability, yes. Practicality of power to cooling needs, yep.

But they get $35k for the stroked 5.7...

The 392 Jeep has always been waaaay overpriced for what you get.
I would love one myself but i have never been able to get past the feeling of being ripped off by stellantis if i did.
I would never have bought one unless I could get an extremely good deal which I did on a used one with only 4500 miles. As a bonus it was a CPO so I have a 7 year and 100,000 mile powertrain warranty as a bonus.

I agree with everything you have said and can honestly say I did not buy one as a status symbol. In fact I have now actually camoflaged mine quite a bit. The bronze wheels have been replaced with same Jeep wheels but now with black pockets, tow hooks changed from bronze to red, and all badging changed from bronze outline to red. Unless you see the 392 on the hood it now looks like just another Rubicon with the XR package. Heck I even drive it the majority of the time with exhaust in the quiet mode.

But, with that said I just really enjoy the feeling of the thing, hard to explain but, it just feels different. I had a '24 Rubicon with the 3.6 and sold to buy this one. The difference is unreal, again, hard to explain but, it just is like no other Jeep I have had.

Lastly though, you better like going to the gas pump because she is a thirsty beast, glad it is not my daily driver!

This is only true if your Jeep sits in your driveway and tells you the time. 😉 I had a '24 Rubicon with 3.6 and sold it to buy a used '24 model 392. Trust me, they don't tell the same time! 😎

They're louder I'll give them that...
But who drives a Jeep for 0-60 speed?
And top speed is comparable across all trim levels.

Loudness - Honestly I leave my exhaust in the quiet mode most of the time. Zero to 60 - While this is nice in reality I tell people that just the feel of the power is incredible with very little throttle response. Top Speed - I could not care less, in fact I don't even know what it is on mine or any other Jeep models.

But, with that said, it's just different, drives different, feels different, totally illogical and dumb as I will openly admit but, damn it is an awesome beast. Had I not found an extremely good deal on a used '24 I would not have bought it.

Bottom line, at the end of the day a 392 is a want and not a need. 😎

This week fines for failing to hit prescribed fuel efficiency standards were repealed. Tesla sold credits (at a discount) to offset these fines to other automakers in the US. Their revenue was $1.6 billion last year, which is substantial.

Models, engines and options which increased these fines were likely priced to include the fine. That may account for the very high price of the 392 and XR packages.

What's going to happen next? Will we finally see a 5.7 Wrangler for $2k more than a V6 Automatic?
You are dreaming at 2K. But, I'd suspect that the incentive is there to do something similar. Remember, we are referencing a foreign owner, so expect perhaps 10K or so more for the V8. I'd be nice...

My vote…leave the prices the same.
Spend the money to fix the problems they’re ignoring that are posted about repeatedly on this forum.
I know…I know…wishful thinking.

The 392 (and most cars) are not priced on a cost basis. They’re priced to what the consumer will pay. If the demand stays high the price stays high. Simple enough.

I would say this is only true for higher end trims, including the 392. The basic trims don't have nearly as large of a profit margin. This is why, for example, the Gen 4 Tacoma TRD trims are $10k+ more than Gen 3 TRDs, but the lower trims are "only" $4-5k more than the Gen 3 equivalents.

There is definitely a status symbol bloat with these higher trims. I think a lot of it stemmed from the chip shortage where dealers had insane markups on these higher trim vehicles, but regardless, it seems that the trend is dealers have insane markups, the vehicles still sell, so then the automakers just increase the MSRP because they know that people will pay that price.

This hurts the average Joe, because a lot of us would just like a simple Wrangler with a V8. Unfortunately, Jeep has decided to tie the V8 to the higher level "status symbol" trims, rather than an a la carte option for any trim. I wish they just had V8 option for any trim and still have an overpriced "status symbol" trim for those willing to pay.

Yeah. I went to look at what the cost difference was between a V6 Rubicon and a 392 was and it shocked me. It's right at $50k more, or almost twice as much.
Same here, I looked a while ago and just shook my head.
Thats a lot of money for essentially just the engine upgrade. Maybe justifiable it it had 60’s instead of the current axles.

It's $3k in a Ram 1500.

Sorry but no Jeep is a status symbol. Not even the Grand Wagoneer. Jeep is a "mainstream" or "everyman" nameplate, not a luxury or premium nameplate. The 392 sells what units it sells on the "shiny things" phenomena. I've got a neighbor who lives that life...he's got to have the newest big thing at any given time. If there's a pre-order for it, his name's on that list. To think about the money that guy has wasted in the time i've known him...he's got a nice house, but he could have an additional entire house with that money. I just can't understand that way of thinking.

Don't let anyone jealous of, or ignorant of, what joy a little horsepower brings to a person. The Jeep was built for fun, and a gob more power can bring a gob more fun. 0-60 power is more practical in a jeep, than 1/4 mile or top speed.

Yeah, nobody needs the power of a 392 Rubicon but, like you said it gives me gobs of fun every time I drive it! All this while maybe not even going over 45 and only using a minimal amount of power, it just feels different!
