I have a ‘22 JLUR that’s stock except for wheels/tires. It came with the plastic bumpers. It’s time to add a winch now… but I need a winch compatible bumper. Where I live it has to be full width and have the crush cans. While not enforced fully… some have gotten notices here and had to get inspections and remove bumpers that don’t meet these requirements. I’d rather just be safe and get something that’ll pass.

I’ve read that ARB Bondie Deluxe and AEV EX would fit those requirements. Are there any others I haven’t found? I’ve also considered getting the OEM steel bumper but they’re quite pricey new for a bumper not as durable as the ARB or AEV and impossible to find take offs here.

One concern I have about those two bumpers is the added weight with a winch. I’m on stock suspension. Will either cause sag? If not what do I need to do to make up for that? I plan on doing a teraflex lift later this summer but a winch and bumper are my next priority $$$ wise.

Very new to all this and learning. Thanks.

MP Concepts has an aluminum clone of the Rubi modular bumper that would satisfy your weight concerns.

The aluminum Patriot from Rock Hard is quite light as well. They have full length.
I replaced my plastic OEM bumper with Rh4x4 Aluminum Patriot mid width and a Warn winch to keep the weight down. Also requested a bull bar delete so it didn’t block the trail cam.

Not sure if you’re mechanically inclined or not so this may or may not be an option for you but you can install a heavy duty winch plate and modify that stock bumper to do what you need it to do and meet all the laws where you’re at. I’m in GA and we basically live in the land of the free when it comes to bumpers, tire protrusion, lift height, beadlocks, no doors, etc. LOL! I modified mine simply because I didn’t particularly want to spend money on that when I could spend it on other mods instead. Took a good day to mock it up and make all the little modifications it took to get it how I was happiest with it. Only thing I’ve yet to do is warm up the top plastic cover with my heat gun and get the slight hump out on the passenger side of my winch control box. I installed a 12K SKAR Overland Vehicle Systems winch which fit nicely and only part you really see is the fair lead and the winch control box.

ARB. No sag in the front. But no winch either.

Measure the height before installing any mods. After all mods are installed remeasure and install spacers to return to the original height. You can even add a little extra in the front to eliminate the stock .rake

I wanted an AEV (I have had them on JK's) but could not bring myself to pay the money for one. I almost went with the ARB but ultimately the more I looked the less it appealed to me. the Mopar steel while not cheap was still cheaper than the AEV by over half. it adds about 70lbs up front with the lower steel air damn vs stock set up. with my AEV lift it did not really drop at all just with the bumper added weight. I don't think another 70lbs or so for the winch and plate will sag it more than a 1/4". I found Northridge4x4 had the best mopar bumper price and Quadratec matched that and had them in stock.
