1000% agree, I never understood why vehicle manufacturers think anyone wants this. Why not just allow your vehicle to connect to the hotspot on your phone that you already have?

Because they want your vehicle to be in constant contact with the mothership. Even if you aren't subscribed to it as a service, your Jeep still phones home and communicates who knows what to the powers that be.
