Hey everyone,

picked up a used 2018 JL recently. It was previously used for flat towing, but I have come to notice that the dash brake light is not illuminating when the parking brake is applied. No real issues otherwise. Searched but did not see anything related to what I'm having an issue on.

picked up a used 2018 JL recently. It was previously used for flat towing, but I have come to notice that the dash brake light is not illuminating when the parking brake is applied. No real issues otherwise. Searched but did not see anything related to what I'm having an issue on.

Test the dash light for potential complete failure by using just the hand brake lever to slow the vehicle when having to come to a stop. When using that brake in such a manner, the red "BRAKE" dashboard light should blink. If it doesn't illuminate at all when doing so, then perhaps the next step is to determine if the speedometer itself needs to be replaced.

Or, perhaps the switch on the lever itself, that sends the signal to the dashboard that the lever is lifted and thus the parking brake is engaged, is faulty.

One other thing that comes to mind is to call a business that offers the service of installing flat-tow hitches on the front of vehicles. Ask them if the installation of such a hitch on a Wrangler does or may negatively affect functioning of the parking brake light. The same Q could be asked at a CDJR dealer of your choosing, too.
