Apologies for being absent for so long from here. I have been wrapped up in another project vehicle for the past 2.5 years, with my E46 M3 convertible. With the weather in the NE slowly starting to break, I was wondering if there is a behind the seats mesh wind deflector similar to what I have for my BMW. Basically what it does is stops the incoming wind from curling around and hitting you in the back of the neck. The net result is that you can drive around with the top down on a 40 degree day and not be so cold, that you and your passengers have to carry separate blankets with you. I did find one from a company called RedRock, but it doesn't seem to be mesh. If anyone has any experience with something like this I'd like to her about it. Actually, I do have the front and rear sun shades from Alien Shade, but I have never used the rear one. If anyone here has used both the front and rear mesh shades, do they end up acing like wind deflectors if they are both on at the same time? Is there a noticeable difference with them both mounted? Also, I'm only referring to the wind issue with the freedom top open. Scenario: Its 52 today and sunny. Too cold to take the windows off, but you'd like to get some sun/vitamin D. So you open the freedom top section and fold it back. What comes next as you pull off is a constant blast of cold air straight down onto the top of your head as if you mounted a hi-velocity fan to the top of your jeep. You would kind of get the same effect in the BMW, until you flip up the mesh wind deflector and turn on the heat. Once you do that, you can get on the highway at 90mph and you don't feel anything.

Something like this? I've seen a few online and some require a back cover but this one doesn't. I once owned a Miata and the cleaner style for your typical car doesn't seem to exist for Wranglers.
I haven't tried any for the Wrangler since I wear a "convertible" hairstyle now.

Bestop has the Windjammer that is similar to this.

I wonder if this is porous or if the OP seeks a product that is.

Not sure. A two-seater like my Miata with a good slanted window had very little air coming in from above the doors. My Wrangler is like a tornado at times. A 4-door with that shield behind the back seats wouldn't seem to help much. But I'm just guessing.

I think you are onto something. I did a quick rig using my Alien Shade sunscreen behind the seat instead of up top, and it definitely had an effect. I'll see if I can grab the stuff you posted and put something together. Definitely on the right track.

From what I rigged up using my AlienShade its shows promise. I think with the Alien shade on top, and whatever I end up fabricating, it will do the trick.

I would think it needs to be porous/mesh or it wil just be pure blowback.

Cut two sides of mesh 2" larger than you require. Fold over those extra two inches to size on each of the two cut sides and then grommet together those folded ends to keep them that way.

Two of your fabrics sides retain their factory grommets.

You sound like you have already done this?
