Bought a pair of DR590X-1CH for the JL and wife's WK2. Installed the JL first and i like when i start it the camera wll say "Blackvue for your protection (or something like that). Normal recording starting now" and the wifi (light) comes on automatically. Then when i turn off it it says "Powering off" as the wifi and recording lights go off. Perfect.

Then when i installed the WK2, it does not tell me anything either when i turn the car on or off, except it sometimes tells me parking mode is going off. I checked settings and i have voice enabled for powering on and off. The wifi default is off and i have to press the button on the camera every time i want wifi to come on. I checked the settings and don't see anywhere to adjust wifi always on when car running. What am i missing here?

Also noticed in the WK2 the camera never stops recording as even now after sitting for a couple hours i walk out and see the green light on from the outside and when i go inside the car the orange recording light is on. Oddly enough, i do not have park mode checked in the WK2 and i do in the JL. My concern is battery draining. Any way to get the WK2's camera to act like the JL's?

Sounds like you have the camera installed on a power lead that is not switched with the ignition.

You'll need to tap the fuse or wire that is switched by the key to have it turn on/off with the car.

Thanks. It would seem that way, for sure. This is on my wife's 2012 grand cherokee that was 2 12v outlets, one in the center console area similar to the JL and another inside the armrest, the latter which is where i have the camera plugged.

It has been about a week and no issues with car battery dying so maybe it is ok after all.

I'd be paranoid about leaving it like this personally. If you drive it every day, you might be fine for years.

But once your battery starts getting old AND/OR you go on vacation for few days, your car may be drained to a point that it's dead in the water.

Best practice is to install an adapter that has Low Voltage Battery Drain Protection (https://www.amazon.com/Vantrue-Hard...cam+install+kit+cut+off&qid=1615566983&sr=8-3 ) OR install to a switched power source.
