Shots is correct. I have had the same sound since purchase in mid November. Only removing Fuse 97 (radio) prevented it, meaning it was a radio frequency pickup at engine start. After about 8 weeks, it suddenly stopped and has not returned. I attribute it to the use of a USB stick for music. Now, with or without the stick, it no longer happens. It's a mystery but I can live with it as long as it does not return.

I am having the same problem. it makes the " pew " sound about 5 times without an error code nor dash light indicating anything wrong. wrangler runs just fine and starts each time but it does happen almost every time i start it. I thought maybe the key fob was faulty so i changed to the second one given by the dealer and it didn't help the problem. Has anyone else found the cause of this? This is my first Jeep and i am kinda bummed as this started about 3 days after buying it brand new
love the led pew pew pew meme! Iā€™ll check on the seat belt in the morning but it isnā€™t the same sound as the normal seat belt warning indication. I also noticed it chimes ten times each time upon start up. (Within seconds of starting) My Jeep only has 900 miles on it. It started at like 600miles. I hope to figure it out soon. Itā€™s kind of annoying
Hi Maverick909,
We understand why this may be concerning. Please feel free to let us know if you decide to have your dealer look into this, just to be safe. We're happy to assist with this process.

I am going to proceed to try pulling fuse 97 and make sure its through the radio. I feel itā€™s alarming behind the insterment cluster. Iā€™ll verify more this weekend as itā€™s been raining for 4 days here in so cal.

Ha ha. Rain... isn't Cali a struggle. :giggle: I'm just messing with you. I'll take our excessive snow over the mess you all have to deal with (wild fires, earthquakes, hippies, etc).

Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you.

Every time I start my new JLUR, it makes a "pew pew pew" beeping noise - what is this and what does it mean?
Roland, I do not mean to belittle your problems and wish you resolution: I truly do.

But with that said and other contributors having offered some sound advice, may I have a comedic moment?

;)Does the "pew pew pew" you refer to sound like this:

It was simply the tracking system the dealer installed w/o my knowledge. I called them up and they remotely turned it off. It is a bit disconcerting that they can turn it on again at any time and track my location though.

rolandal:

That seems the most likely reason in my case. At time of purchase I requested it be turned off, not knowing the connection to the beeping sound. Six weeks later it stopped which suggests to me that the request was finally processed. The stopping was coincidental to my fiddling with the sound system and my conclusion was I had stopped it. Your discovery makes the most sense. Thanks.

Oh, so that was serious? Why is the dealer installing tracking systems? It makes sense if they were used as loaners or something, but why waste the money on a car they're selling. Is this another one of those things that goes on in CA and the rest of the county looks at them scratching our heads about it?

mine finally stopped producing the noise after i did the break in oil change. i do believe when i bought my jeep the dealer mentioned that they have the gps system that allows them to track the milage telling you you need to setup an appointment for your oil changes. i did ask them to turn it off as i bough my jeep out of state 4 hours from my house. either way i am glad its now gone! it was rather annoying to say the least. I am curious though if it will come back when the next oil change is about due... :time: thanks for all the help!

I think the most likely reason for the trackers is theft from the lot and leased cars. Theft from lots is more common than realized and often downplayed in publicity. IMHO

I only have 500 miles on mine and it was 3 definitive beeps like nothing else I've heard in the car. not a seatbelt chime ,not a USB connected, etcetera etcetera however, I did find this and the only reason I'm thinking it was this is because both times I was turning and close to an object and the other time was quite a sharp curve in the road and there was something close to vehicle .so I'm going with the "BSM"
