Backup Camera Refresh Rate

Not a complaint, but I have noticed a couple times when using the backup cam that some headlights on other cars appear to be flashing on and off. When I turned around and looked at the car the headlights were on and looked normal.

I've seen this kind of weirdness when shooting video of a TV or computer where the refresh rates don't match so it appears to flicker, but with headlights on a car?

You can see this with even high end cameras. The LED drivers are generally PWM, so this 'flicker' is normal.

I figured it had more to do with the lights than my camera or display. Interesting - I didn't know that LED headlights (at least some) use PWM, but I suppose it's not shocking. Thanks for the 411.

I was playing with the backup camera at a red light and thought I was going insane. A car had an led border around the headlights that was flashing on screen, but not in the mirrors or when I looked back.
