I am replacing my front fog lights with new amber ones. I’m wondering if there’s a way I can take the factory for fog lights mount them in the back on the bumper and use them as backup lights anybody done something like this? I just hate to waste all these good lights.

This whole thing started out as looking for a better backup camera for night and then someone said well try better more lights
So that question remains as well. Are there some high-quality backup camera that can just be cut and sliced into the existing backup camera?
What do you recommend?

I used Oracle in bumper LED reverse lights. For $150 you can't beat them.

You could reuse the factory fogs in the rear, but it would take some work. You’d be looking at custom mounting to make them sit clean in or under the rear bumper, plus wiring them to a relay or aux switch since they aren’t designed to plug into the rear harness. Totally doable if you’re comfortable fabricating a bracket and doing some wiring, but it’s not exactly plug and play.

That said, if the main goal is improving reverse visibility and the backup camera at night, there are much easier options. Adding dedicated reverse lighting makes a huge difference without having to reinvent the wheel. We offer plug-and-play reverse light modules and full tail light replacements with significantly upgraded reverse output, which directly helps the camera see better instead of blowing out the image with glare.

If you end up going the plug-and-play route, forum members can use WRANGLERJL10 to save a bit when shopping with us. Happy to answer questions either way!
