I have a 2020 JLU Willys Sport with the Pentastar V-6 and Manual Transmission. How do I know I have, or do not have, an Aux. Battery without taking out the passenger side wheel well cover?

To tell ... eTorque or not...

Pop the hood and in say 15 seconds you can take a looksee and tell if it is an etorque JL or not....

With eTorque ........and the JL, you will see the factory has placed a solid metal jumper between N1 and N2 in the Power Distribution Center (PDC).

You will see find/see no alternator.

You will also find that there is NO, Aux battery negative cable attached to the Main batteries Neg terminal... you will just see an available stud on the Main battery neg terminal, with no cable attached to it...

Your Main battery on the negative side terminal will look just like in this pic. See the red circle... Notice that available stud on the Main battery neg terminal with no cable attached to it...

And indeed, the plastic box under the PDC/ hiding behind the passenger fender flare, is there... but it does not have an Aux battery in it.. it is just an empty box.

And of course, if you crawl under... with eTorque, you will see, the 48v battery box will be these... - (with battery) just ahead of the rear axle on the drivers side.

So, if I do not see an alternator then I must have an eTorque and therefore I must also have an Aux. battery?

IF you have an Etorque JL, you will see no alternator and you will not have an Aux battery...

Just look at your Main battery and compare to the pic I posted. IF you have the free terminal I circled in red in the picture, you have an eTorque JL and thus no Aux battery in the box below the power distribution center.

You can take a pic of your Main battery and post it here if you want and I will confirm.

e torque in a 2020 jeep was not a big thing, so you probably dont have it. does your jeep start stop when you come to a stop? Do you have a button with an arrow around an A on the dash by the stereo knob? If so , you have an aux battery. Next easiest way is to look at battery and see two sets of battery cables coming off battery, going to aux battery.

Etorque can be identified easiest by big honking electric looking motor generator on top center of engine. Also by two odd looking little coolant reservoirs on driver side engine compartment, lastly by looking under rear by axle, driver side, big rectangular black looking box, thats where the 48v batt is located.

And yes, etorq has a SS button, no aux battery.

Couldn't you just look at the main battery and check for double battery cables ? One that connects to the main/ground and the other that connects to the aux(if its there).

I thought the manual transmission automatically got you the 3.6 with ESS (aux battery), no?

Mine is definitely not an eTorque. And, it would appear that I do indeed have an Aux. Battery by these pics

Just disconnect your main battery negative terminal, if you have a healthy aux battery it will still start.
