Hello everyone, first post! Long time JK owner, my wife just bought a 2018 Jeep JL. After a week of ownership the dreaded battery warning light and screen stating pull over safely vehicle will shut off soon appeared. This is currently where I’m at.

I had the batteries and alternator checked, everything was perfectly fine and new batteries installed in April. For the heck of it I installed a new auxiliary battery. I also pulled the fuse array and replaced that. Checked everything before install and perfectly fine, I even checked all grounds…yet within minutes the warning lights appeared again. I’m completely stumped at what to do.

she has always driven with the system off, and our tazer arrives tomorrow but not sure where to continue looking to fix this issue. Thanks!

* How were the batteries checked?....independent load testing being not simply the gold, but IMHO only standard.

* That Tazer which you're expecting in the mail simply turns off the Engine Start Stop system automatically if you wish. In no way does it electrically take the Aux battery out of the picture.

* If you want to take the Aux battery out of the picture, forum posts can be provided upon request. Such action should also involve preventing ESS from engaging (i.e. Tazer) so as to not tax the main battery during ESS events: the very battery needed to crank the vehicle post ESS event.

* Earlier 2018s will not crank if the Aux battery lacks sufficient power. This was addressed with TSB 18-092-19.

* I might consider putting a trickle charger on the main battery overnight. I keep one on my 3.6L when parked. This model JL has the aux battery connected in parallel when the vehicle is at rest. Only for an instant at crank and during ESS events do the batteries separate. So the trickle charger will charge both batteries.

Doors off lately? I had a few bent pins in mine that would cause it to throw the Service Start Stop System message. I relaced the batteries, and it still threw the error, so I retraced my recent action in the Jeep and the night before I put the doirs back on. Sure enough, bent pins. Straightened them out and the error cleared

I removed both batteries from the Jeep and took them to autozone, both passed. Not sure about the specific tests that were completed. I do know that both batteries were brand new in April so I find it hard to believe that both would already go bad but I might just by a new one to try out.

well aware the tazer does nothing to prevent power to the aux battery but I do plan on upgrading to the genesis dual battery in the near future. I just don’t want the cart to randomly shut off on the wife and kids for now.

she has had them off once, I’ll check the pins! Also reading it might be something to do with the hood latch.

The Genesis Dual battery kit is good stuff, and will solve this issue, but if your are getting it for this issue you're IMHO "killing a fly with a baseball bat."

Want it for say off road appliance use---terrific....

My new 2023 is showing an error. 3 times in 3 days. Goes away after a restart. Doors haven’t been off yet.

Turns out my issues with the power control relay. Luckily they had one in stock and was fixed.
