Auto Show Observation.

Cleveland Auto Show Sunday. Jeep had their 2 mountain peak and 2 articulation track set up and they used, by my quick count, ( I was in a hurry to get to a Prius), 6 vehicles to ferry people up/down/around the track.

(4) 4 door Rubicon 392s and (2) Gladiators. Half-million $ in vehicles to run 'em up the hill fast, hold for a sec, and drop downhill to a sharp stop. Looked like they disconnected the swaybars too to maximize the show-off on the articulation ramps. Recent years past they had to have a half-dozen 3.6 JLs on standby cooling off.

I was left wondering if they'd sell them as new stock.

The Show was pretty "meh". No Recons. Wife had a good time talking with the Canadian male models. I forgot to get to the '25 Wranglers.

If the cars were supplied by local dealers, they typically go back into inventory and sold "new" as a dealer demo car. If the dealer has any scruples, they will disclose that it is a demo (typically, obvious by the number of miles on it plus 'new' title status). Just like the name implies, it's been used for demonstration purposes. Manufacturers will usually provide incentive on those cars for dealers to sell them at a discount. They obviously have some accelerated wear compared to a new unit fresh off the truck.

If the cars belong to the manufacturer, then the car might travel around from show to show that year--or longer. Hard to say what happens after that...I'm guessing they go to auction as used. Sometimes you see these on dealer lots. Carfax shows it belonged to the manufacturer, window sticker might have the selling dealership listed as the manufacturer, etc.

They all get sold as demo or used cars, sometimes dealers keep them as service loaners for a while, but these days dealers are hurting too much for that.

Why do you ask? There are enough discounts on brand new vehicles at Jeep lots, to even bother with demos or show vehicles. These things get loaded and unloaded on trucks in a hurry - they chain down and strap the first thing they hook.

Oh good lord I don't want one of them. I thought it interesting they'd whip $100,000 392s like mules before even sacrificing the gaggle of 4xe's they have available. You'd think those would be better suited for the abuse for the torque needed. I don't remember seeing any 4xe on display in the arena.

I'm just questioning another one of Jeep's life decisions here and thinking "WTF?" Maybe not such a surprise.

I went to the Chicago show and it was a mix of 392s and 4xes. Honestly, based on the size and elaborateness of the stand and track and all the staff and everything, the Jeeps themselves are the cheapest part of the whole thing. The 392s were getting exhaust blips and were crowd pleasers. A few $100k 392s that get written off or sold for cheap is a rounding error in the whole thing.

Jeep stand was by far the best stand and I really didn’t care for much else at the show.

I had a 21 4xe. That was a problem child. It was two yrs old on 54 miles on it. I knew there were red flags everywhere. But my wife liked it. But I took it in to the dealership close to me. Found out the first owner was FCA. So this may have been on the show circuit. Piece of crap
