retired due to broken back
Hey all, I have just installed a set of Oracle back up lights, the ones that replace the reflectors in the bumper.
My question is, can I run the power lead to the reverse lights and run a wire up to the dash that would be the ground for the lights, allowing me option of using or not using them while in reverse.
Thanks in advance

Hey Eyeball,

Yes, you are able to wire your upfitter harness to your OEM Aux switches. Since the 64-0167 is connected to the battery. That 1A or less acts as a trigger for the relay. Since this is a lockout harness you want to make sure you not running both functions at the same time.

Best,
Bill

@BajaDesigns So if using an upfitter harness and I accidently hit both buttons? Does the harness sense this in the relays and automatically cut power to the second relay? The reason I ask is that I did just that and blew the 15 amp fuse for the jeep accessory switch. Is that the safe guard or is it more sophisticated than that?

Alternatively, maybe I don't actually have the “upfitter”. My lights and harness were purchased quite a while back. I believe I purchased an “upfitter” harness but I no longer have the packaging.

Third option I messed some thing up in the wiring

The harness has 2 relays, 1 power and ground, 1 drl wire, and two relay trigger wires.

Does that description lead you to believe it is an upfitter vs standard harness for LP6 lights.

Thanks for any insight.

It's in the works for the Squadrons and XLs, they will have backlight shhhhhh:fingerscrossed:
I just saw this… are they out? I guess I could check but you said to ask anything…

I love my XL80 and squadron Pros. I had to get black face bolts because my OCD but they’re perfect. I’d love a Onx6+ dual function lightbar, it’d look sick, but I honestly have plenty of light output as is. Maybe one day.

make some headlights too, please and thank you.

I’ll ask again… any update on the backlight squadrons and XL’s?

If we already have the non backlit versions wired with the upfitter harnesses, will the new ones be able to be wired to the existing upfitter harnesses and just have an extra wire to tap into running lights?

I’m not sure I want to run all new wire through the cowls, engine bay, down the frame rail, etc.. just for the backlight feature which is purely aesthetic… really good looking aesthetics though.

@BajaDesigns I am installing an AEV rear bumper and want to add a reverse light in the bumper, I was thinking Squadron Sport clear wide/corner. Would this be a good choice and will I need a wiring harness also?

Also for a chase light I was thinking S2 Sport in amber. Should this be work/scene or wide/corner? I want to tie this into my factory aux switch, what harness will I need?

Thanks Alan

For Baja Designs: In the listings for the lights, I wish you'd clarify which harness it comes with. And in the listing for the separate harness note that it is what comes stock with the lights. I wanted a harness with a relay and ordered it separately, not knowing that the light comes with one already, which is not specified.

Hey bd100,

Any pair of lights that we sell will come with a universal harness, which will be labeled in the detailed spec. Our single-light options, as well as light bars, will not have a harness included. Since you did order another harness, not knowing that one was included, send me a PM if bought directly through us, and I can get this process going for you.

Best,
Bill

Hey @ajn507,

A Squadron Sport might be a tad excessive for a reverse light, but it'll certainly get the job done. If you're keen on it, we can definitely set that up for you. However, the S1/S2 is a more common choice and offers a great solution, providing ample light while backing up. Are you considering a single or dual light setup for your reverse light?

Now, for chase lights, S2 Sports with an amber wide/cornering lens pattern are a top-notch choice. Since you want to connect to your factory auxiliary switch, I'll provide a link below for the harness you'll need to wire this up.

@BajaDesigns i saw a video on YT that mentioned you would be releasing an SAE LP6 headlight kit for Jeep and others. Can you share any info on that, specs/pricing/availability?

Hey @Jeepless,

Regarding our Squadrons, there's an update in progress, and it's still in the development phase. As I gather more details, I'll be sure to post about the specifications and key points to keep an eye out for. Stay tuned for updates!

Bill

Got it elsewhere, but that's ok, it's not a big loss. But the problem is "universal harness" is not described. No mention of what exactly it has, namely a switch and a relay. I thought it was just some connectors and wires. You could say "universal harness, including a switch and relay, also available as part #12345". And in part # 12345's description you could say "included when you order A, B, or C".

There is only one cut out in the AEV bumper so I will only be using one light. I don't think the S1/S2 will fill the cut out.
