I’ve had both original and the now the smoked. In my quest to eliminate the clashing red and Snazzberry, I sold the first ones. Love them! Yeah need to do something about the red fire extinguisher and soft shackle.

I was an early adopter of the Oracles, purchasing them during the pre-sale in Nov '21 and being the first to receive and install them in early Jan. '22. They've functioned flawlessly since Day 1, with no leakage or wonky operation observed. My Jeep doesn't have the BSM modules, either.

We're on opposite sides here, Darryl. :) My purchase of the Oracles was informed by my dislike of the bloated OEM tail lights, which look like nothing so much as tumors on a Wrangler. The extension pieces used on the XR trims, to ensure continued functionality of the BSM feature, only makes a bad look worse.

Aesthetics are subjective, though, so there's no right or wrong position here. Use what you like.
Completely agree w the xr comments which is why i have a set off oracles.

One of Jeeps trademark features. Plus the stories of them getting ripped off on trails has me scathing my head wouldn't other things hit before taillights like the fender flares on the rear. Plus the price is crazy for plastic and degraded function BSM system that we pay for in the price of a Jeep, that alot of people bitch about.
Oddly enough my first trail damage was the left rear fender flare and the taillight. Slipped off the edge of a rock ledge on the left rear and came crashing down on that side right on that spot. Only damage was there. Cracked the glass on the light and scraped up the fender flares.

Angles. Angle of the Jeep at impact, and the angle of the thing you hit. I lost mine at Windrock, slid off a root and bumped a tree on the other side of the trail, the tree tapped the corner of the bumper and the light took most of the hit. Never touched the fender or body. Then later I was climbing a rock and kind of slid-rotated, my friend said I missed a part of the rock sticking out only because my light wasn’t there anymore. Not much is straight in nature!

How muted is the running light and taillight on the tinted version versus the standard red?

Hard to quantify… it is a little less bright compared to the standard but still very bright. I have no concerns at all.
