So top down is topless, no top or doors is naked. So does that mean doors off and top up is side boob?

My fiance and I tend to refer to the freedom panels as "the hat". They're not a permanent part of the Jeep, they're just there to keep the rain off my head.

T tops have a bar in the center, hence the T in T too. It would be more like a 2 piece targa top
Even though I agree with you I still sat t-tops because most people (non jeepers) don't know what Freedom Panels are. And it's just easier to say. :)

Freedom panels is a silly name. I just call them roof panels.

Wife: "Did you take the top off?"
me: Nah just the front panels.

That's usually what I say. Top off I just say "the top is off". Top and doors, I say "top and doors off".

Boring but it isn't rocket science.

That just adds to the confusion, and unnecessary, especially when an image search is so simple

I don't think it's confusing. Especially to the non Jeepers. They don't care as far as I can tell. The people that get serious about the name of the tops are us Jeepers. I'll call them Freedom Panels to other Jeepers because we are the ones that care. ;)

I never have called them Freedom Tops or going topless. I call it a sunroof.

You're right. Even the salesmen don't understand Jeep lingo. When I ordered my latest Jeep, the guy had no idea Jeep offered 4.88 axels.

I only get a chance to talk with them if they come up when I am killing time in the showroom, waiting for an oil change or similar, many of them it seems only know the gimmicky stuff at the surface level.

For the last decade I only deal with them over email, I ask for a price and ignore if they don't give me a price I like. I do not even give a phone number until it's time to finalize the deal.
