Hi there,

I am in BeiJing China and just can not wait for Jeep to sell JL in China.
I want to know if there are any dealers now are selling JL to China including the import Tax and shipping fee from USA or Canada.
Feel free to contact me.

LOL. In Beijing, old JK Rubicon 4 doors is now selling for $79000, JK Sahara 4 doors is for $71000 using 1USD=6.3RMB.
So...I think all cost for JL in total is lower than this could be considered. Of course the import process should be legal.
Any idea on this?

I'll trade you an R34 Skyline for my JL.

Real talk though, we're not allowed to import vehicles until they're 25 years old (maybe this has changed since I was a Skyline obsessed high school kid) so nobody here (in the USA) will likely know how to export one (unless that's a completely different legal situation, which it might be).

When I moved to the USA in 1991 (Army Brat) my parents brought over 2 German market cars, a 1989 Mustang 5.0 Interceptor and a 1989 BMW 325i. That was one way that a lot of unique imports came into the USA, via overseas mililtary. But I believe that program ended a long time ago. When I was in ROTC I recall active-duty Officers talking about not being able to bring cars back anymore at all. Could be wrong, though.

Are there offroad parks in China? You're in Beijing, I've never been but would you have anywhere to bring the Jeep to have fun?

I have no knowledge, but I would be surprised if it was legal. I'm under the impression that just about every country has their own unique certification process before new vehicles can be sold and it seems unlikely that the brand new JL is already certified in China. Even when certified, new vehicles generally have to be sold through a manufacturer's dealer network. Certainly, where I am in Canada, it is not possible for a private buyer to have a new US vehicle shipped here.

Yes. China and US have different import protocols. I have read about the US military abroad property retire process.

China indeed have some offroad place like hills and desert just around BeiJing. We have a growing offroad community. A lot of people are joining the party. JKs are selling well in China I think. JL is the one I love most for now. I am eager to have one. I just want to get info here about the import. If this way doest not work, I will wait for Jeep official to release JL in China. Maybe soon, in one or two months.

It's an interesting situation.

Jeep apparently requires dealerships to not sell vehicles for export, but it's not clear that it's legally binding.

Here is a case where someone was slapped hard: http://www.autonews.com/article/201...aler-scores-in-suit-against-illegal-exporters

Yet it sounds like judges in the US are skeptical: http://www.autonews.com/article/201...r-export-angers-automakers-but-is-it-illegal?

(Sorry in advance: autonews.com seems to be painfully slow)

If nothing else, those articles may give you some companies to contact.
