I've always carried my HI-LIFT jack mounted securely to the brush bar of my old LR D90. This location just works for me personally, out of the way and easy to get on/off as needed. Some don't like this location for safety concerns etc. I'm just sharing an alternate mounting solution for those that might be looking to do something similar.
With my new JLUR I decided to go bumperless and run just a Warn winch plate and some EVO D ring shackle mounts. I still wanted to figure out a way to mount my HI-LIFT and be able to mount a pr of Baja Designs Squadron S2 fogs.
I came across https://www.jrjdesignsus.com. JR had already developed a HI-LIFT mount for the front factory steel bumper. Gave him a call and we discussed what I was trying to do. JR was more than willing to work with me to develop a custom mounting solution that would meet my needs.
After a lot of measuring, phone calls and facetime JR had a solution for me. My new brackets are bolted directly to the frame and are stout heavy steel. Brackets are mounted to the frame with grade 8 HDW and I modified a HI-LIFT mounting kit to reuse the lockable mounting studs. The brackets have tabs at the sides that I used to mount the fogs. HI-LIFT is very secure, easy to access and out of the way of winch and headlights.
I'm very happy with this solution and JR was a pleasure to work with (FYI no connection with JRJ Designs just a
customer).
Not for everyone I know but thought I'd share a different option for those that might be interested.
Here are a few pics of the install,
