Anyone have experience buying tires from AliExpress? They have KO2s for about $75 less than anywhere else I've seen. The seller has over 800 transactions, with a 4.7 rating. Tires supposedly ship from the U.S. and they claim they will arrive within the next 1.5 weeks.

Too good to be true?

Hey Phrank, I would be worried about build dates on those tires. They could be some old stock tires that already have a couple of years of shelf life to them. My thoughts on the matter...

Understood, but truth be told I'm buying 3 and putting on my current spare which has never seen the road - that tire came off of a 2021 JLUR, so if the new ones are old they'll be in good company.

I've never seen anything at all from aliexpress that does not originate in China. They may ship from the US, but that is after they have been unloaded from the boat from China. Ask the seller where the tires are made. Then ask BFGoodrich if they have a factory there.

Make the seller send you a pic of the sidewalls. Then use this info to determine the place and date of manufacture etc
https://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/auto/learn/tires-101/reading-a-tire-sidewall

i just went through this on Facwbook Marketplac where the seller was listing brand new tires. But when he sent pics of the sidewalls they were manufactured 3 years ago. The deal suddenly wasn’t a deal anymore.

I was recently shopping for a new B&W hitch for my truck, and saw them offered cheaper than anywhere else on Aliexpress. I just assumed they were Chinese knockoffs and took a pass.

I'd assume they were knockoffs or factory seconds/QC rejects and base the decision off of that.

You got a link to this item?

I'd have to look at it personally to give you my expert opinion on whether or not you should make this purchase.

That being said, you can get really nice quality high-end items from AliExpress. Me personally, I don't spend any large amounts of money on things from AliExpress. Namely because of two major points:

1. the quality control isn't there. You're buying from the manufacturer, not from the middleman. The middleman will usually do a quality control and send back any shitty items before it gets into your hands. When you buy straight from the manufacturer, you're getting the raw item, therefore you are the quality control guy.

2. Trying to get a refund from AliExpress is an absolute crap shoot. More often than not you get screwed and if you're not smart about it, you'll lose the item as well. I had that happen once earlier this year. $13 item, they shipped me something that wasn't pictured, sent me a shipping label, and I sent it back to them on day three, after 2 weeks they said they hadn't received it, and then after 2 months once it was passed the final return date, they said they never received it and kept my money and the item. I filed a grievance with AliExpress, and it took them 6 months to return my money. At that point it wasn't about the $13, it was about the principal. But I just as well could have lost my money and the item.

It's like my parents always tell me, never spend more than you're willing to lose.

Okie dokie's, so it's clearly a very new store.

Their business license shows it was only established in July of this year

That being said their reviews are below what I typically look for. I usually look for a minimum overall rating of 94, and they have an 88.

Of their negative reviews, they all seem to follow the same trend...

Didn't get the item. For the most part it looks like they did get a refund, but similar to my experience it took them a long time to get the refund which for $13 isn't a big deal, but when you spent $200 with the company, that hurts.

That being said of the sales they have had in the last few months a lot of them have been US sales, and of at least the tire sales don't seem to have any negative reviews that I can find. All of the negative views seem to be of other items that they're selling at their store.

They clearly have a lot of tires for sale and only handful of them have been ordered and of the ones that have been ordered, only a handful have received reviews...

Here's a couple tire reviews:

My honest opinion, if saving $100 per tire is worth it in your mind, I would say take the chance. But like one of the reviews states, I would heavily recommend you order a single tire, and if it turns out well order the other three or four afterwards.

That being said I don't see this company screwing you over, but they're also extremely new and that's not necessarily a good thing either.
