Aftermarket bumper trimming?

I wasn't even sure what these are called.. I took off my stock bumper and what I think is some sort of cross member. Now, I have these two pieces sticking out.
Can I grind them off?

I believe the term for those is crash bars. Some bumpers actually require they be cut off.

Does that mean you should...I am not sure.

When jeeps were cheap knock around vehicles a Sawzall and fire wrench were the main tools used for modification. If you don't mind cutting up the overpriced toy, chop chop!

I've been through a YJ and 2 TJ's. I'll be cutting and grinding those down smooth soon.
