I have been reading Non-stop the last few days about the ds18 system I installed last weekend to try and determine how to prevent the riculously loud hiss the tweeters make when there is no music playing (which can also be slightly heard while playing music).
I have a 21 jl with the alpine system and 8.4" screen. I installed the ds18 soundbar with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, using their dsp and 4 channel amp. Installed the amp pro, ds18 tweeters in the dash and the ds18 speakers in pods behind the kick panels running on the factory amp. The speakers hooked to the factory system work as they should and do not hiss.
I would like to fix the hiss from the soundbar tweeters without throwing too much more money at this.
My question is: can I hook the ds18 soundbar tweeters directly to the factory soundbar tweeter wires instead of through the ds18 amp? My hope is since the dash tweeters are on the factory amp and don't hiss that the same would be true for the sound bar.
I looked at the wiring diagram and know that only two of the speakers are for tweeters- but I do not know what ohm they are. The ds18 tweeters in the soundbar are 4ohm (same as the dash tweeters I installed). I am fine with only hooking up 2 of the 4 tweeters in the sound bar.
Any ideas if this would work? Or am I wasting my time and they would still hiss? Or would these not be compatible with the factory amp in this location?
